What a journey we have been on these past 20+ months! While there are still many chapters left in the Covid-19 global pandemic, the story is improving with the development of vaccines, therapeutics, and ever expanding knowledge of how to safely re-engage with our local communities and with the world more broadly. This also means that international travel corridors are opening – slowly at first, but in recent days and weeks there have been some exciting developments which will help facilitate our ability to explore the globe once again.
For the past few years we’ve partnered with UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School to provide their MBA students with immersive, global travel opportunities in unique destinations to learn about different cultures and witness firsthand how business is conducted in international markets. These opportunities help the students better understand cultural sensitivities, and prepare them to lead international teams.
Amid the pandemic, Kenan-Flagler was not willing to give up on such global experiences, which truly set the school and the students apart, and we were excited to work with our partners to help develop an impactful virtual experience.
Together, Terraficionados and Kenan-Flagler, developed a Virtual Global Immersion Experience (VGIE) to study the themes of innovation and entrepreneurship in Russia and Estonia. The development of the VGIE required a lot of creativity and innovation to make sure that the program was just as effective and impactful as the in-person global experience.
We know that you have a passion to explore the world just like us. That’s why we’re bringing you a little taste of that adventure we all miss. Discover Peru a little differently – in virtual 360°! Our folks on the ground in Peru took their camera and backpack to explore Barranco, the bohemian heart of Lima (following all the protection measures, of course).
International travel has been largely halted. But the desire and need for it still exists, especially among universities that aim to prepare their students to be global citizens and leaders. Amid this pandemic, Terraficionados is partnering with universities to transform their international travel programs into virtual experiences so that students can continue to learn how to operate effectively in an international context.
We’ve just completed the successful delivery of a 2-month VIRTUAL international internship “in” India and Vietnam, and we are currently working with university partners to develop virtual international study programs for 2021. Read more to find out how we redesigned and delivered the international internship program to ensure its success in the new virtual format.
