Finish the adventure in Split where you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in Croatia’s history and culture. Visit the Diocletian’s Palace, participate in an olive oil tasting and a cooking class, and explore the island of Trogir.

Day 1

Arrive in Zagreb, Croatia

Welcome to Zagreb – the city with a million hearts!

The largest city and capital of the republic of Croatia, Zagreb is located in the heart of Europe, sheltered by the Mount Medvednica and laying on the river banks of Sava. It is a vibrant city with spectacular architecture and a rich culture that is easy to fall in love with. Zagreb is a city of green parks and walks, with many places to visit in the beautiful surroundings.

Take a private transfer from the airport to your hotel. Sit down to a welcome dinner at a local restaurant!

Day 2

Zagreb:

Today you will embark on a cycling tour of Zagreb!

After breakfast you will reach the cycling start point the same way most locals travel – in a tram.  This tour will provide you with the opportunity to experience Zagreb’s streets from a different perspective.

Afterwards, you will have the chance to taste some typical Croatian wines with a selection of Croatian cheeses and prosciutto. Learn about the long tradition of wine-making in Zagreb from wine connoisseurs.

Next, make a short stop at an urban vineyard, which is a perfect view point of the Old Town. This area will take you back to the Middle Ages when it was well known for its local wine producers.

Now, have some free time in Zagreb!

In the evening, go on a treasure hunt under the moonlight. When the sun goes down, the scent of truffles is at its peak, enabling truffle hunting dogs to be on a certain track to truffle discovery! Head torches will gaze through the forest creating a special kind of atmosphere, bringing out the true explorer in every participant.

Day 3

After breakfast it is time for a truly unique tour!

Your experience will start in Medvednica Nature Park, the perfect place for a falconry tour! It is interesting how close from the capital of Croatia you can find a place where you can enjoy peace and almost untouched nature. Your guide will teach you about the ancient practice of falconry and the training techniques that eventually create unique partnership between the trainer and these majestic birds of prey. Don’t miss the unique opportunity to try your hand at falconry and to experience how it feels to hold one of the world’s most skilled predators.

Continuing with a medieval theme, you will then go on to visit Medvedgrad fortress. Here you can enjoy spectacular views of Zagreb and its surroundings, while hearing legends of the Black Queen.  This amazing experience, in the tranquility of the beautiful Medvednica Mountain perched proudly above Zagreb, will make you forget all the stress of today and take you back in time!

Day 4

Transfer: to Zadar

En Route to Zadar:

After breakfast, depart for Zadar!

On your way you will make a stop at Croatia’s most famous National Park and one of the most beautiful sights in Europe – the Plitvice Lakes. Located roughly halfway between the capital city of Zagreb and Zadar on the coast, the lakes are a definite must-see in Croatia. The beauty of the National Park lies in its sixteen lakes (crystal blue-green color), inter-connected by a series of waterfalls and set in deep woodland populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars and rare bird species.  Due to their natural diversity, they are part of the UNESCO World Heritage List from 1979. Discover the beauty of Plitvice Lakes with a local guide who will be waiting for you at the entrance of National Park.

Have lunch at a local restaurant, then continue your trip towards Zadar. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy your evening!

Day 5

Welcome to Zadar! After breakfast, explore Zadar with a local guide. You’ll have some free time to explore Zadar on your own too!

The centuries old cultural heritage of Zadar, makes it a must-visit place to meet Croatian tradition and its influences. Zadar is a city monument, surrounded by historical ramparts. Here you’ll find a treasury of the archeological and monumental riches of ancient and medieval times, Renaissance and many contemporary architectural achievements such as the first Sea Organs in the world. Sea Organs are a modern, urban installation on the waterfront in Zadar that cascade down to the sea and stimulates the change in coastal movement, stop over and descent to the sea.

In the early afternoon get ready for another adventure – visit the vineyards of Zadar hinterland. Follow the path of ancient Romans who conquered the area more than 2000 years ago and brought the first wine in the hinterland of Zadar. A special sort characteristic for the area is dry white wine Maraština. Tour the winery in a comfortable mini-van with a guide, and do some sightseeing of the vineyards and winery and participate in a wine (five glasses of wine), prosciutto and cheese tasting.

Day 6

Zadar and surrounding area: 

  • Embark on a 4 hour hike through Paklenica National Park
  • Picnic Lunch

Have breakfast at the hotel and then depart for your hiking excursion!

The area of Paklenica National Park stretches on the littoral slope of South Velebit, directly above the settlement of Marasovići, up to the zone of the highest mountain peaks (Vaganski vrh, Babin vrh, Sveto brdo). This area covers the torrent flows of Velika Paklenica and Mala Paklenica, as well as their distinctive canyons carved vertically into the south slopes of Velebit and the broader surrounding area. The relatively small area has an abundance of geomorphological phenomena, diverse flora and fauna, attractive landscapes and intact nature.

During the hike, a picnic break will be organized. You will have some free time and then continue back to Zadar.

Finish this fantastic day by having dinner in one of Zadar’s best restaurants.

Day 7

Zadar:

  • Explore the Krka National Park
  • Have lunch at the House of Dalmatian Prosciutto for a prosciutto tasting

Transfer: to Split

Accommodation: Hotel Jupiter

Today, head toward Krka National Park.

Depart in the morning for a full day activity. We’ll traverse the area on foot, seeing the Travertine waterfalls of the Krka River up close.

Before we continue toward Split, we’ll make a stop at the House of Dalmatian Prosciutto to enjoy lunch with prosciutto tastings.

After the lunch we will continue to the hotel in Split. You will arrive in Split in the late afternoon/early evening.

Have the rest evening of the day at leisure!

Day 8

Split:

  • Take a city tour with a local guide

Split, with a population of 200,000, is the economic and administrative center of Middle Dalmatia. Split is an important historical and cultural city, with numerous museums, churches, theaters and other archaeological treasures throughout. Certainly, the most impressive is the massive structure Diocletian’s Palace, built by the Romans in the fourth century. The palace and its many buildings inside was designated a UNESCO Heritage Site in 1979. Enjoy walking around this ancient city with a local guide.

The city tour will end in a local restaurant where you will have lunch and have the opportunity to taste different types of olive oil. Try to guess as many flavors as you can because the winner will get a prize in the end of the “blind date with olive oil”.

Day 9

Trogir:

  • Tour the island of Trogir

This morning you will head to the tiny island of Trogir and spend a morning exploring the streets of the historic city that covers the entire islet.

Despite its minuscule size – it is barely 600 meters long and 300 wide – Trogir packs an astonishing amount of heritage into its narrow cobbled streets and picturesque squares, which in parts are still hemmed in by ancient walls. Admire medieval castles, Baroque palaces, Venetian churches and the majestic Romanesque-Gothic St Lawrence’s Cathedral.

Next, begin a cooking class adventure, meeting at 9:00am in one of the oldest cafes in Trogir where you will discuss the menu over coffee and domestic pastries.

Then, visit a local food and fish market where you will buy fresh Adriatic fish and vegetable from local farmers.

Experienced in both cooking and teaching, your host chef and the author of an original cookbook is dedicated to sharing with you the traditional Dalmatian home-cooking techniques and recipes. This cooking class includes: morning coffee, pastries, lunch, dessert, drink and of course, learning!

After the cooking class you will have some free time to spend on your own in Trogir!
